Gentleness is a key attribute of any Christian, as well as a fruit of the Spirit. Being gentle, and having gentleness, allows us to become more like Christ, and prevents us from making enemies. Gentleness is also commanded of us by God. Jesus tells us to turn the other cheek, rather than to take an eye for an eye.

2 Timothy 2:24 – 2:26 – “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”

Proverbs 15:1 – “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.”

Proverbs 25:15 – “Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone.”

Titus 3:2 – “To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, [but] gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.”

2 Samuel 22:36 – “Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great.”

Galatians 5:22 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, “

Ephesians 4:2 – “With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;”

Matthew 11:29 – “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”

Galatians 6:1 – “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”

James 3:17 – “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.”

Matthew 5:38 – 5:40 – “Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheekturn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.”
